Link Generator: An Overview

You already know Lists of Lists is a powerful tool, but it just got easier to use with our new Link Generator core tool! This tool automates the process of generating the in-app links used in the ‘Link URL’ field for Lists of Lists, Announcements, and Announcement Buttons.

Accessing the Link Generator Tool

  1. Navigate to Lists of Lists in the MinistryPlatform Nouns menu (PocketPlatform > Lists of Lists). Create a new Lists of Lists record. Leave the Link URL field blank.
  2. Open the desired record. Click the ‘Tools’ drop-down menu.
  3. Select the ‘Link Generator’ option.

Using the Link Generator Tool

  1. Select the screen you want to link to. Clicking in this area will produce a dropdown list with several options. For this example, we are creating a WebView.
  2. Enter the website link.
  3. Click ‘Save Record.’ After the link has been successfully generated, the window will display the following message.
  4. Refresh your MinistryPlatform view.

Are there any differences when using the Link Generator tool for Announcements / Announcement Buttons?

The process for accessing the tool is mostly the same, except you’ll want to create Announcement and Announcement Button records instead of Lists of Lists records. When you’re creating an Announcement Button record, the Link URL field is required. You can just enter any placeholder text, then use the tool to generate your actual link. Remember to refresh your view afterward.
